The 12-Point Safety Checklist
An audit tool for full-arch reconstruction: a method for converting a flat commercial quote into a document that can be read, compared, and held to account.
Full-arch reconstruction is quoted, across most of the cross-border market, as a single flat figure. The figure is real. In a large share of cases it is also incomplete, structured to exclude components billed only after treatment has begun, at the point where the patient is no longer positioned to decline.
This checklist converts an un-auditable flat figure into twelve written questions: each with the answer that meets an academic-network standard, and the failure mode when a clinic omits it. Put every question in writing. Record every answer.

Three of the twelve points
Component Traceability
Ask
“Name the manufacturer and system of every implant fixture and abutment, and confirm lot numbers will be recorded in my file.”
Audit standard
Fixtures from a named, traceable system with documented long-term survival (Straumann or Nobel Biocare tier), with lot numbers entered in the record.
Failure mode if omitted
An unnamed fixture cannot be matched years later; a component that cannot be matched is revised rather than serviced.
Twilight Sedation Oversight
Ask
“Who administers and monitors my sedation, a dedicated anaesthesia provider or the operating surgeon?”
Audit standard
Sedation administered and continuously monitored by a provider independent of the operator.
Failure mode if omitted
When the operator also manages sedation, no independent party monitors the airway.
Post-Operative Flight Clearance
Ask
“What is the minimum on-ground recovery period, and who issues my clearance to fly?”
Audit standard
A defined minimum ground stay spanning the acute inflammatory phase, with biological flight clearance issued by the operating surgeon.
Failure mode if omitted
A patient cleared to fly during the acute inflammatory phase exposes the site to cabin-pressure change before healing has plateaued.
